High FIVE for Friday!

Seriously I COULD NOT be happier.

Photobucket

Today I am linking it up with Lauren over at From my Grey Desk for High Five for Friday.  Here are five pictures to sum up my week!

Siri and I were fighting this week.  She refuses to spell my name correctly.  She wants it to be Jesse, but that is not correct. So in order to retaliate, she now calls me Waneetah! :)

This little man has been carrying around this bone all week long.  He rarely chews it. Just carries it around and then "buries" it in the couch, a towel, a chair, a blanket, or his toy box. Silly Henry!

This little comment on my blog post (here) made me SMILE so much.  I truly love Leah's company The Yarnival and to know that she appreciated my post...HOW AWESOME IS THAT?

Did you participate in e.l.f.'s cyber sale? Wow! I was excited.  Their prices are already so reasonable and to score that much make-up and beauty products for 50%...SCORE!

The BEST part of my week.  I finally am the proud owner of the iPhone 5! My upgrade (which I have waited very patiently might I add) was this past Wednesday.  However, my friend got Verizon to let me upgrade 4 days early! I am in love already and it has been a short 5 days! :)

How was your week? I hope you get into something fun and relaxing this weekend. I have a Pinterest craft I want to try and of course more Law & Order SVU!

So What Wednesday!

Today I am trying a new link up! I just love linking up with other bloggers! :)

Shannon over at Life After I Dew hosts So What Wednesday and her link up is my chosen one today!

So What Wednesday

This week I am saying SO WHAT IF....

I have watched an entire season (Season 11) of Law & Order: SVU since Friday! What can I say I love me some Benson and Stabler!  Now that I am subscribing to Hulu+ I am making my way through the seasons of shows that I have missed!

My house has been decorated for Christmas since Veteran's Day.  I know many people have traditions on when to decorate and to be honest, when I got a live tree I would always wait until December rolled around.  But my trusty Martha Stewart pre-lit tree taunts me sitting in the box! Plus the happiness the decor brings my life is just plain fun.

I dress my dog up in clothes.  He is the cutest 56 pound Chinese Shar Pei with bear coat fur I have EVER seen.  So there is nothing wrong with the fact that he has a dresser of clothes for himself.  He wears the cutest t-shirts, football jerseys, Halloween costumes, Holiday wear, sweaters and more.  He doesn't go outside without a puffy vest on either!

I hit snooze 3-4 times each day this week.  Can you blame me? I was off work for 6 days straight and then BOOM 5:30am comes back awfully fast.  Especially when I have been staying up past my bedtime to watch SVU!

I can't stop shopping virtually. I have a problem and I admit it. Yes, you read it right. I have a problem. All of these cyber deals are just like bait and tackle.  I bite too. I do. LOL

It's the MOST wonderful time of the year!

I do not know about your but I LURVVVVEEE Christmas time.

The music..YES.  The spirit...YES. The decorations..OH YES!  And ever since I have sparked this little DIY streak that I have been on...I really love buying my own supplies and decorating the house for Christmas.

Yesterday was CRAFT day around these parts...oh and a little photo shoot with Mr. Henry Liu as Santa himself (pictures to come closer to December 25).

As you can see I went a little color crazy at the craft store! :)
A few weeks ago I made some ornaments for a swap and thought that I would like to continue to dabble in this world...so I bought the multi-color ribbon and sequins to make a few beauties for my main tree.  I LOVE them.  On December 1st, I will post the DIY directions to make this beauties.

I also keep a smaller tree in my bedroom...I have said this many times before, Christmas lights (the sparkle and twinkle) just make me happy.  There are many nights I leave the lights on through the night and they just make me smile! All in all it makes for a pretty cute small tree.
Go Bucks! :) 12-0 season baby!
A beer mug ornament :)

My alma mater!! OU!

Souvenir from LOVE in Las Vegas!
More Buckeyes and Coca Cola!

I also decorate my book shelf.  I saw this idea on Pinterest.  I took 4 vases from Ikea and filled them with multi-color ornaments.   The tinsel tree in the middle is from Target!

I did make this wreath last year...post here.

I leave you with my favorite Christmas craft of the day.  As many of you may not know, football season ended for me on Saturday as my undefeated Buckeyes ended their season with a 12-0 record.  Because of NCAA sanctions we are not allowed to partake in any post season play.  Therefore my OSU ribbon wreath (featured here) needed to be replaced.  I worked for 4 hours today making this beautiful Christmas Ribbon wreath.  It is already hanging and I just stare and stare. It is beautiful! Enjoy the photos!

A Bloggy Award for me! :)

If you have hung around here for awhile now, you know that I started this blog just as a way to keep track of my DIY projects.  I used to only post two times a month...and in a short ten month time frame I have moved to blogging four times a week, meeting lovely ladies from all around the country, linking up with bloggers to show off fashion, my weekend, my favorites, etc.  Blogging has really helped me open my eyes to the reality that all of my friends do not have to live in my city and text or call me regularly.

I cyber-ly met Lindsey from Just a Small Town Girl blog this week through a link up (WIWW) and she has nominated me from the Liebster award! How fun right?

Here's the deal. I've been nominated for the Liebster Award.

"Liebster" means darling or beloved person in German.

The Rules:
1. List 11 facts about yourself.
2. Answer the 11 questions given to you.
3. Create 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominate for the award.
4. Choose 11 bloggers with 200 or less followers to nominate.
5. Go to each bloggers page and let them know about the award.
-->
11 Facts:
1.     I'm not a morning person. No way. No how.  I have to get up at 5:30am every work day and it's slowly killing me.
2.     My dog is my furry son.  I love him with all of my heart.
3.    Without makeup, I am constantly asked if I am sick or sad. The whole thing is pathetic.
4.     My mom is my best friend.
5.     I am slightly obsessed with country music. Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Justin Moore, yum :)
6.     I lived in DC for 4 years and miss riding the metro more than I should.
7.     I love to read, but only teeny bopper lit. HP, Hunger Games, Matched, yep. I admit it.
8.     I hate feet. Even my own.
9.     My favorite foods vary from peaches, watermelon, pizza, pickles, and olives.
10.   I am a reality TV junkie.  I love me some American Idol, X Factor, The Voice, RHONY, Real World, KUWTK (and all spin offs), The Hills (come back!), Jersey Shore, etc.
11.  I left a piece of my heart behind in college.  Ohio University, you complete me.

Lindsey's Questions:

1.     Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging on a whim really.  It was right after NYE of 2012 and I had just discovered the blogging world.  I had begun writing down all of the projects that I wanted to try in the next year when I googled "how to start a blog."  It was then and there that I decided that I would blog about the crafts that I tried throughout the year.  It has grown into so much more for me. I am very glad I gave it a whirl.

2.     What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday.  There is something magical about the twinkling lights, decorated trees, ornaments that represent your memories, songs that bring cheer, family member sleep overs, and tradition.  I just love Christmas.  I would leave my tree up all year if I could.

3.     What was your favorite family vacation?
My answer for this one is two-fold.  My mom and I took my brother to Las Vegas for his 21st birthday in 2006.  It was so fun to be out in Sin City with my family and seeing my brother experience the lights and fun for the first time.  We went to shows, watched the World Cup, swam, lounged, shopped. It was a great time.  However, this past summer my mom and I went on a 7 day/night cruise through the Eastern Caribbean with some of my friends.  We stopped at the ports in St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Nassau (Bahamas).  It was the most beautiful week of my life.  And to have that time with my mom was truly special.

4.     What tv show can you watch over and over again?
I am a TV junkie. But over and over I can watch: Friends, WIll & Grace, The Golden Girls, The Cosby Show, Law & OrderL SVU, Keeping up with the Kardashians, and Big Bang Theory.

5.     Who is your favorite celebrity couple, why?
Hum..I have to think about this one....brb.
Khloe and Lamar Odom.
Now do not get me wrong, the family can be dingy, but I really believe they love each other.

6.     If you could name People’s Sexiest Man Alive, who would you pic?
Bradley Cooper.

7.     Mac or PC?
Mac

8.     Describe your favorite outfit.
Truthfully, flannel pjs. But if I am in public...skinny jeans, brown riding boots,a grey t-shirt, soft cardigan, knitted cowl, and dangling earrings!

9.     What book are you reading?
Reached, it is the final installment of the Matched trilogy by Ally Condie.

10.   Do you have any nicknames?
My name is Jessica, but most call me Jessi or Jess.  When I was little sometimes I was called JJ.  In DC I had friends that called me Jess the Mess. My friend Bryan used to call me Jessica James (my middle name is not James!).

11.   Can you touch your nose with your tongue?
No.

My Questions:

1.  Which day of the week is your fave and why?
2.  If you had to watch one movie on repeat, which would it be?
3. What is your best memory from college or post HS days?
4. What kind of music fills your iPod, iTunes, or CD collection?
5. If you were stranded on an island, what are the three things you would take with you?
6. What is your favorite store and why?
7. What is your favorite accessory to wear?
8. Nails: naked, painted, fake, etc.?
9. Do you have any bad habits?
10.  What are some of your important words to live by? A certain quote that inspires you?
11. Describe your perfect environment to read a book in.

WWIW: Thanksgiving Eve!

Happy almost Thanksgiving everyone!

I for one am very excited for this evening to arrive.  I on the other hand am not excited for the hours of cleaning, straightening, dusting, vacuuming, and laundry-ing that awaits me when I finish typing this post.  That is the only down side to holidays--the cleaning.  Oh and that feeling where your pants do not fit no matter how hard you try to suck it in.

I am linking up with The Pleated Poppy this morning to show off an outfit!  This was a cozy, cute, and fall ready outfit that I donned this past weekend.
Jeans: AE: here, Shirt: J Crew Factory: here, Cowl: The Yarnival: here, Boots: Candie's: similar, Watch: Fossil: similar, Earrings: Francesca's: not on-line, Bracelet 1: BCBG: similar, Bracelet 2, JewelMint: sign up, Bracelet 3, J Crew Factory: sold out

If you look closely you can see the ground was covered with frost this past Saturday, which is why I bundled up!  However by 1pm, I was too warm for comfort.  The cowl had to go as I ran my errands, but even with just a necklace peaking out, it looked cute.  What necklace you may want to know? Only the cutest gold chain giraffe necklace I snagged at J Crew Factory.  The giraffe is sold out, but I debated getting this elephant necklace as well.  It is just as cute!

I hope everyone will have a wonderful holiday.  Be careful if you brave the crowds and stores on Friday.  This girl will be skipping that event.  I am not glutton for punishment, no matter how great the price!  I will however be participating in Cyber Monday if I can find a must have!  What are you all shopping for this holiday season?

A Weekend Quickie

The title got your attention? Whooooo...sorry to disappoint but I am strictly referring to the fact that my post will be short!  Here is my weekend highlights told in numbers!

(Thanks to Keeping up with Kelly & Co for the idea)

HOURS of sleep I got on Friday night.  I was worthless.  I came home from work, ate 2 slices of pizza, watched Grey's Anatomy, and was out like a light.  I got up a 11pm and went to my cozy bed. Whoops, this girl was tired!

PAIRS OF SHOES bought on Saturday...yes you read that right. Spending freeze what? Crap. I lost that battle, who was I kidding.  But seriously, my mom and I found some adorbs moccasins at Old Navy that just had to be ours and at 50% off...that is acceptable.  We also made a couple purchases at Marshall's for what? Yes, another pair of moccasins.  We are shoe crazy when we find something that is cozy and comfy and can be stood in for 8 hours while teaching!

FEET OF GARLAND AND STRING LIGHTS that I hung on Sunday afternoon! I worked outside in the sun (wearing shorts mind you!) for about 3 hours hanging garland and lights around our porch around the house.  I kept staring at it last night, something about Christmas and lights that just make me happy. Which is why the tree is up, decorated, and on each night already!

SANTA SUIT bought for Henry Liu to wear this Christmas.  He will be sporting a full on Santa suit and hat this year for my Christmas card. I am pumped, so pumped that he got to wear it all day and night on Saturday. Just breaking it in for comfort.  I am thinking I need to borrow a wagon from someone to be his "sleigh" come photo shoot time.  My wheels are turning with ideas!

I am liking up with Sami's Shenangians for Weekend Update! You should too!

Lookin' Adorbs with the Yarnival

Seriously Ladies.

I feel obliged to come to you today with SUPER important information.  I also feel that you should RUN WITH this information. Running in the form of surfing the World Wide Web and spending some hard earned cash on yourself, friends, or family.

I have always been open with my LOVE for Etsy.  I do not know how I got along without the knowledge of Etsy in my previous 29 years. But I digress.  Today I am introducing you and hopefully persuading you to peruse the shop on Etsy...called... The Yarnival!

Let me introduce you to Leah and Jodi!

Oh my goodness is this mother-daughter duo is talented. SO TALENTED.  I cannot lie. I have never, ever, ever been disappointed with their products. Hand made products.

Here is a little about their shop:

I randomly found them last winter while I was looking for cute headgear to wear skiing.  I absolutely hate how I look in a winter hat and being that the mountains are freezing cold...I wanted a fashionable way to keep my ears warm while I ski. Low and behold I found Leah and Jodi! It's strange really how I have this obsession with their products and I have never "walked' in their store. However, if they had one and I could shop there, I would be their #1 customer (at least that is what I tell myself!).

First purchase: The Prankster Headwrap

via
Aren't you pulled in instantly to this headwrap? The beautiful knitted black and white combo alone is amazing...but that giant hot pink flower...it was love at first sight. I knew I had to have it.  I placed her in my cart and stalked the package until it was in my hands.  Lamely, I loved it so much that the first night I had it I even wore it to bed. Yes. I just admitted that.

via
This was my very first cowl ever.  I was intrigued when I saw this masterpiece because I just had begun to love the infinity scarf.  So my attention was held when I thought... "How easy! Just place this lovey over your head and pair it with a cute sweater and coat...no worry about loops? Strings? Placement? SOLD!"  When it arrived, I was even more excited that I thought I could be.  I absolutely love it.  I wear it on a daily basis with amy hunter green winter coat and I also pair it with sweaters!  Dream On cowl...you are the cowl of my dreams!

3rd purchase: Kimberly Cowl

via
I do not think many words are needed for this cowl.  IT IS GORGEOUS.  Late in September, I got to thinking about my beloved shop on Etsy and thought I should check it to see what was new.  Miss Kimberly was staring at me.  I thought... "How can that cowl not be MINE?"  So I jumped right on it.  It is thicker (chunky) than the first cowl I owned but it is also "over sized"-- kind of like double the width.  The width is what I think makes this cowl shine.  It is gorgeous alone with the knitting, but the fact that it has many different natural ways to lay on your shoulders just amazes me.  I even wore it to a late night Ohio State game and it was HUGE in keeping me warm. I LOVE IT!

4th and 5th purchase: Rocky Mountain Cowl & Denim Cowl

via
Not only do I shop The Yarnival for myself (I am Selfish Sam as my mom says) but I am also gifting it to my friends and family.  First recipient was my bff Jamie.  She has been on the road with her hubby and kidlets for two years now and I wanted to get her a welcome home present that was just for her.  So I had to do a lot of thinking when it came to picking out a cowl for someone else.  She had seen my Dream On cowl last winter, so I knew she liked it.  I decided on the Rocky Mountain because of the unique blending of other colors.   Please please please believe me when I say that this cowl is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous in person.  The specs of color just POP and I would be lying if I didn't feel a tinge of sadness that it wasn't for me darn it, there is my selfishness coming out. Anyways, see below for Jamie modeling the Rocky Mountain! :)

When you order for a friend...you know I had to order for myself too! :) Oops!

via
I wanted a blue cowl that was similar to my grey and oatmeal cowls, but I wanted the neck loop to be a little bigger...to be able to lay more across my chest instead of my neck.  Leah was awesome to work with in turning one of their products into a custom cowl for me.  It is even better than I imagined.  I think I have now worn it 5 times to work (all with different combos) in 2 weeks!  I cannot say enough about how much I love these cowls.

So the moral of today's blog lesson chicas?  SHOP THE YARNIVAL for your winter wear needs.  Trust me, you will get homemade items that were knitted with care and kindness.  These items are gorgeous and you cannot go wrong! :) Stop in their Etsy shop and tell them Jessi sent you! Happy shopping!

**I was not paid or compensated to say these things.  This represents my true opinion as a customer of this shop.

I am linking this post with High Five for Friday with Lauren from From My Grey Desk! FIVE wonderful purchases from the Yarnival! :)
